Job Description
New Directions are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and welcoming primary school in Trafford. This is a great opportunity whether you already have experience in schools or have little experience but are eager to learn and start your career as a trainee. You’ll help create a fun, engaging, and inclusive environment where pupils can learn, grow, and feel supported.
This role is due to start in April 2026 and will continue for the rest of the academic year. This role may lead to a permanent opportunity for the right person.
The Role
• Support the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities
• Support children with reading, writing and maths
• Work with small groups or individual pupils who may need extra support
• Help create a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment
• Work as part of a team and share ideas with colleagues
The Candidate
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Enjoys working with children and helping them succeed
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Any school or childcare experience is helpful but not essential; relevant degrees such as Psychology or Speech and Language are also welcomed
• A patient, reliable, and flexible approach
