Support Worker Required
We are looking for a Support Worker to assist a 16-year-old young man in developing independence and accessing activities in the community.
About the Individual
He has a great sense of humour, is kind, polite, and enjoys having a laugh with those he knows well. Once comfortable, he is chatty and engaging. He is flexible and easy-going when expectations are clear.
Interests and Activities
He enjoys being out and about, visiting towns, cities, and quieter places such as castles. He loves swimming and water-based activities and has tried kayaking and sailing. Other interests include walks, photography, making videos, and visiting zoos and safari parks. Indoors, he likes using his tablet and phone for YouTube, drawing, Minecraft, and movies. He enjoys talking about dinosaurs, superheroes, transformers, and films.
Support Needs
1. Assistance with travelling safely and independently
2. Encouragement and guidance to interact with peers and engage with the world around him
3. Help with planning and understanding what to expect during activities
4. Patience when processing instructions and completing tasks
5. Use of ear defenders in noisy environments
6. Monitoring for safety when distracted or displaying physical/verbal stimming
7. Ensuring he has his phone for contact when out
He prefers not to be rushed and responds best when given options rather than direct instructions.
