An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time post to join a highly motivated nursing team. You will need to have proven clinical skills in respiratory nursing with a keen interest in teaching to join a well-developed and supportive multidisciplinary team across at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the multi-disciplinary team providing comprehensive, state of the art service for patients with Respiratory Disorders. The candidate should have prior experience of managing all aspects of care delivery for patients within a Respiratory setting both the acute and outpatient setting. This role will enable you to transfer, apply and develop your clinical knowledge and skills to ensure that the quality of care and the needs of adults with respiratory disease are met in accordance to current national and Trust guidelines. The post holder will work alongside the clinical Lead and other respiratory specialist nurses to provide specialist care and advice to patients ensuring a holistic approach is delivered.
As a specialist nurse you will review patients within both in‑patient and ambulatory settings providing advice and treatment, as well as managing your own independently run clinics. You will be required to follow up and monitor inpatients on a daily ward round to support the ward nursing and medical teams to deliver high quality respiratory care as well as reviewing patients in the Emergency Department to assist in preventing patient admission. Some of the responsibilities required will include after care of patients living with Respiratory conditions and home oxygen care and management, advising and educating healthcare professionals with understanding of respiratory care delivery. This will involve teaching and management of university accredited Specialist course. We expect the post holder to offer strong and effective leadership to ensure that all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect.
The successful candidate must be organised, confident, have experience of managing junior members of staff and have excellent communication skills to enable you to liaise effectively with the multi‑disciplinary team and work with a diverse group of patients and carers. This integral role requires an enthusiastic individual to independently drive the development of the service forward and participate in clinical research projects.
