Accounts Assistant
Location: Central Manchester
Type: Fixed Term Contract (12 months)
Hours: 09:00am – 17:00pm, Monday‑Friday – Fully Office Based
Salary: Up to £35,000 (DOE)
Job Responsibilities
* Process supplier invoices, credit notes, staff expenses, and company credit card statements
* Ensure all invoices are authorised correctly and paid on time
* Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any queries
* Prepare weekly payment runs and handle banking of cheques
* Post and reconcile customer payments daily
* Chase overdue payments and handle customer queries when needed
* Send statements and provide copy invoices to customers
* Support credit control and help prepare debt reports and credit checks
* Assist with month‑end tasks such as journals and reconciliations
* Help with audit preparation and respond to auditor queries
* Maintain accurate financial records and support filing
* Provide cover across purchase ledger, sales ledger, and credit control when required
* Contribute to process improvements within the finance team
Required Skills / Experience
* AAT qualified (ideally level 3 minimum)
* Minimum 2 years experience within similar finance positions
* Experience across both sales and purchase ledger
* Willingness to complete varied tasks when required
* Strong communication skills within a team environment
* Knowledge of Navision software (desirable)
