Overview
We have an opportunity for a suitably qualified, motivated and experienced Paediatric Radiographer to extend and share their experience within our friendly Imaging team at the Royal Alexandra Children\'s Hospital, Brighton. We are a leading children's centre on the Southeast coast for tertiary and general paediatrics, with a 24 hour children's emergency department, theatre suite and high dependency unit. The role is 37.5 hours with a commitment to the out of hours service.

Responsibilities
* Be a clinical expert in paediatric imaging, providing high quality imaging using a variety of radiography equipment including plain film and fluoroscopy.
* Further training in MRI will be arranged once proficient in all other areas of the role and competencies have been completed with the Superintendent.
* Become skilled in fluoroscopy; prepare equipment, patient and parent/carer, answer questions on the examination and follow-up information, and safely hold the patient in position for the Radiologist to perform the procedure.
* Maintain excellent knowledge of paediatric pathology and clinical presentation to ensure the correct imaging examination is performed.
* Liaise with Paediatric Consultant Radiologists and Advanced Practitioners where clinical input is needed.
* Work cohesively with the multidisciplinary team.
* Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to Employer Procedures, Local Rules, HCPC standards, Health and Safety at Work Act, and local guidance, policies and procedures.
* Ensure departmental adherence to IR(ME)R 2017 and IRR 2017, MRHA MRI safety guidelines and the Trust\'s policies, protocols and guidelines.
* Effective use of hospital software including CRIS, PACS and Bamboo to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
* Understand local escalation procedures for incidents and, if appropriate, report them using online reporting forms (DATIX), to a senior member of staff and/or to equipment service companies.
* Participate in the 24/7 rota; core hours Monday to Friday at the Royal Alex, with additional shifts possibly allocated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital (both sites on the same site).
* Communicate effectively with children and young people with varying needs and at different stages of development; promote a patient-focused service and minimise stress and radiation dose.
* Communicate complex or sensitive information in an empathetic and understanding manner; engage with clinicians and referrers, answering queries or providing advice and escalating where appropriate.
* Support rotational radiographers and junior colleagues to develop their paediatric imaging practice.
Person Specification
Essential
* Extensive experience working as a Radiographer.
* Evidence of CPD.
* HCPC registration.
Desirable
* Experience in NHS.
* Experience of working with paediatrics.
