We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Night Nurse at HMP Lewes to join our team. HMP Lewes is a category B male prison. Lewes prison is based near the centre of the historical town of Lewes, which is just a 5 minute walk away.
Hours: 37.5 hours a week working Monday - Sunday 7pm-07.30am. The working pattern is 3 shifts x 11.5 per week for three weeks and 4 shifts x 11.5 every fourth week. Salary: up to £52,259 per annum depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main duties of the job
As a Senior Mental Health Nurse you will:
* Lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions.
* Undertake medication rounds and dispense controlled medication.
* Attend emergency response situations.
* Assess patients and undertake reception screening.
* Assess patients’ health needs using an evidence-based framework and be able to risk assess with sound clinical knowledge.
* Ensure that physical and mental health of prisoners on admission and throughout custody are assessed so that any appropriate referral can be made.
* Make clinical judgments regarding immediate needs and long-term treatment.

Qualifications
Required
* Registered nurse with Mental Health or RGN
* Current professional qualification (NMC)
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development
* Experience of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
* A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
* Understanding of mental health policy including clinical governance and the quality and outcomes framework, along with national standards such as NICE
