Offer description

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Salaried General Practitioner to join our friendly and supportive clinical team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-organised primary care setting that values high-quality patient care, professional development, and worklife balance.

As a Salaried GP, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centred medical care within a multidisciplinary team. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical consultations, managing both acute and chronic conditions, and contributing to the ongoing development of the practice.


Main duties of the job

Conduct face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations. Diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.

Prescribe medications and treatments in line with clinical guidelines. Provide health promotion and preventative care. Refer patients appropriately to secondary care and community services. Maintain accurate and timely clinical records using EMIS/SystmOne (or equivalent). Participate in clinical meetings and quality improvement activities.

Contribute to safeguarding, QOF, and local enhanced services where appropriate.


About us

East Norwich Medical Partnership is a well-established NHS GP practice located across two sites in Norwich: Sprowston Primary Care Centre and Thorpe Health Centre. The practice provides high-quality, patient-centred care to a registered population of approximately 14500 patients within the Norwich and surrounding areas. The partnership has developed into a forward-thinking, collaborative primary care organisation with a strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and integrated community healthcare. East Norwich Medical Partnership has a multidisciplinary clinical team including GP partners, salaried GPs, nurse practitioners, practice nurses, healthcare assistants, and a dedicated administrative and management team. The practice is known for its supportive culture, shared decision-making, and emphasis on teamwork.

Clinicians are supported by experienced nursing and administrative staff, enabling GPs to focus on high-quality clinical care across a broad range of presentations including acute, chronic disease management, preventative care, and health promotion.

The practice operates from modern primary care centres in Sprowston and Thorpe St Andrew, both offering good transport links, step‑free access, and on‑site facilities to support patient care.


Job responsibilities

In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.

Providing counselling and health education.

Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.

In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Fully qualified GP with MRCGP or equivalent qualification.
* Current GMC registration with licence to practise.
* Inclusion on the NHS England Performers List.
* Eligible to work in the UK.
* Strong clinical knowledge across acute and chronic primary care presentations.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
* Competence in managing clinical risk and making sound clinical decisions.
* Experience using clinical IT systems (SystmOne)
* Commitment to safeguarding adults and children.
* Ability to maintain accurate, timely, and clear clinical records.
* Flexibility to work sessions across the practices operating hours.
* Involvement in quality improvement projects or clinical audit.
* Experience with QOF, enhanced services, and local clinical pathways.
* Understanding of primary care commissioning or PCN working.
* Experience using online consultation tools and digital triage systems.
* Interest in developing a special clinical interest (GPwSI role or portfolio career).
* Participation in clinical governance, safeguarding lead roles, or MDT leadership.
* Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development (CPD) beyond minimum requirements.


Experience

* Experience in safe prescribing and medicines management in primary care.
* Experience in referring appropriately to secondary care and community services.
* Experience of working within clinical guidelines and evidence‑based practice (e.g. NICE guidance).
* Experience in dealing with clinical uncertainty and undifferentiated presentations.
* Experience of safeguarding adults and children procedures.
* Experience of contributing to clinical governance, audits, or significant event reviews.
* Experience of health promotion and preventative care (e.g. screening, vaccinations).
* Experience of working with multi‑agency or integrated care teams (PCNs, community services).
* Experience of telephone triage or remote consultation delivery.
* Experience of continuity of care and chronic disease follow‑up.
* Working in a previous Primary Care Setting
* Completion of Non‑GMS paperwork work
