Amazon Pay is looking for a talented attorney to support our rapidly growing and evolving payments businesses. You will serve as the lawyer responsible for counseling the business on a broad range of payment and regulatory matters with a particular focus on:
* Unified Payment Interface (UPI)
* Payment aggregation business
* Merchant services
* Consumer lending facilitation solutions
* Co-branded credit card programs
* Merchant services
You will also collaborate with business and tech teams to structure complex transactions, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, and provide advisory on information security aspects. Additionally, you will work with business teams to explore and evaluate new payment-related business opportunities, understanding regulatory requirements and facilitating product launches.
Principal duties include providing day-to-day legal advice, resolving issues in existing commercial relationships, drafting and negotiating complex payment, co-brand, and other commercial agreements, and offering ongoing legal counseling across various legal areas including payment aggregation. You will engage with banks and network partners, manage customer disputes, and respond to regulatory complaints.
You will be responsible for regulatory engagement, working with industry bodies to drive policy change initiatives, representing Amazon Pay in regulatory forums, and collaborating with the public policy team. Monitoring and communicating regulatory changes and ensuring compliance across teams will also be part of your role.
The ideal candidate will have a strong transactional background, be proactive, entrepreneurial, and able to exercise pragmatic judgment in ambiguous situations. In-house experience at a technology or financial services company is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications:
* L.L.B. from a recognized university in India.
* Minimum of 14+ years of legal experience in the financial sector, with experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house.
* Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating contracts.
* Strong skills in analyzing and responding to regulatory and compliance matters.
* Excellent legal and business judgment.
* Effective interpersonal skills for coordinating with management and teams.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
* CS qualification.
* In-house experience at a financial services company.
* Familiarity with electronic financial services, merchant processing, payment association rules, banking and credit laws, and financial privacy.
* Knowledge of money service business compliance, anti-money laundering, KYC, and payment aggregation regulation.
