Overview
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic consultant to join our team of 12 Consultants providing comprehensive Gastroenterology and Liver services. Subspecialty interests are welcome, particularly hepatology; expertise in endoscopy training, ERCP, EUS or GI physiology is also desirable. Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, bowel cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease, and nutrition services are well developed, with complementary skills welcomed. Main duties of the job
As a consultant you will provide outpatient, inpatient and endoscopic Gastroenterology services. You will participate in the on-call gastroenterology service (1:9 rota currently) including weekend morning ward rounds and an out-of-hours GI bleed service. You will be expected to engage in business planning of Gastroenterology services in collaboration with other consultants and hospital management.

Job responsibilities
* To assist in the provision and development of a safe, effective and efficient Gastroenterology service and support the Trust and its network in providing the best possible care to patients;

Person specification
Qualifications
* Essential: Full and Specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview
* Essential: Membership of Royal College of Physicians or evidence of equivalent qualification
* Essential: Progress towards or attainment of college exams
Desirable
* Postgraduate thesis
* Completed fellowship programme
* An appropriate higher degree
Clinical Experience
* Essential: Experience requisite to meeting all aspects of the job plan; understanding of all aspects of Gastroenterology and GI Endoscopy
* Desirable: Five years supervised training in an appropriate SpR equivalent training programme; Attendance at Train the Trainers Course in Endoscopy
Teaching
* Desirable: Demonstrable ability as a teacher with evidence of training for the role
Research
* Desirable: Publications in peer-reviewed journals
