Area Director – Southeast (Essex & Suffolk) – This leadership role requires extensive travel across the region and focuses on inspiring, supporting and leading high‑performing veterinary teams. Working closely with the Regional Director and Area Support Manager, you will provide strategic, operational and commercial leadership across your area, delivering exceptional clinical quality and client care while developing sustainable, high‑performing teams. You will collaborate with Central Support functions to embed our values – We Care, We Dare, We Share – and play a key role in recruiting, developing and retaining outstanding veterinary talent.
Responsibilities
* Ambassador of our values and responsible for embedding company culture.
* Mobilise the UK strategy within the area, facilitating best‑practice sharing and supporting rollout of initiatives.
* Oversee the operational and commercial performance of practices.
* Attract, retain and engage staff across the area.
* Work closely with the Area Support Manager, demonstrating an aligned approach to priorities, performance and improvements.
* Line‑manage Clinical Directors.
* Provide strategic information and input to support future network planning and growth initiatives.
Qualifications
* Full and valid UK driving licence.
* Willingness to travel extensively across Essex, Suffolk and the wider Southeast.
* At least 5 years of leadership experience with proven coaching, mentoring and performance‑driving skills.
* Proven ability to maximise clinical and financial performance of individuals and teams.
* Keen understanding of key financial & clinical KPIs and ability to identify improvement actions.
* Strong people skills – engaging, educating, motivating, inspiring diverse teams across multiple sites.
* Collaborative leader able to lean into high challenge & high support.
* Demonstrated emotional‑intelligence skills to recognise individual needs and timing.
* Visionary, agile, resilient, dynamic and results‑driven.
