People Manager

Sarah McKenna HR is supporting One Utility Bill with the recruitment of a People Manager, a brand new role in the structure.
This is a great opportunity to join an established, values-led People team as you’ll take ownership of a key business area and help the People function keep pace as the business scales.
You’ll be joining a People team with strong foundations already in place, including an experienced People Manager with deep knowledge of the business and its teams. This new role adds extra leadership and capacity as the business scales, with each People Manager responsible for a defined area and partnering closely with leaders to support growth.
You’ll lead within your area while contributing to the wider People strategy, making sure people activity supports performance and ambitious business goals.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll act as a dedicated People partner to your aligned teams, building strong relationships across the business and working closely with senior leaders.
You’ll:
* Align people activity with the wider People and business strategy
* Coach and support leaders on performance, engagement and employee relations
* Balance sound HR practice with commercial outcomes, ensuring people decisions support business performance
* Spot gaps, get into the detail and put practical improvements in place
* Keep delivery on track across projects, deadlines and business targets
* Use reporting and insight to identify themes and drive improvement
* Lead and develop members of the People team
Supported by the Head of People you will manage a People Assistant and Company Trainer.
This role suits someone who enjoys ownership, takes initiative and can confidently prioritise when things move quickly.

What we’re looking for
You’ll likely have experience in a scaling or fast-paced business and be confident partnering with senior stakeholders.
You’ll bring:
* Strong HR knowledge and sound judgement
* Confidence advising and coaching managers
* Solid employee relations experience
* A practical, commercial approach
* The ability to manage shifting priorities and deliver to deadlines
* Experience developing others and building team capability
You’ll bring expertise to the role and you’ll be motivated to keep learning and growing alongside an experienced team.
