About the Company
An established Independent Connections Provider operating within the UK power and utilities sector. The organisation delivers contestable electricity connections and private network projects across industrial, commercial and renewable energy developments, supporting grid connections primarily between 11-33kV. With a strong focus on safety, compliance and quality, the business plays a key role in enabling the UK’s low-carbon energy transition.
The Role
The Tendering Engineer will support the front end of high-voltage connection projects, translating engineering scope into robust, commercially sound tender submissions. Working across pre-construction, the role involves interpreting client requirements, reviewing technical drawings, developing compliant technical solutions, and building detailed cost models from first principles. The successful candidate will work closely with design, commercial and delivery teams to de-risk tenders prior to submission and ensure clear handover of scope, assumptions and risks. This role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape tendering processes and pricing standards as the business grows.
Experience Required
Background in HV/LV electrical distribution within an ICP, DNO, IDNO or similar utility/EPC environment, with experience across 11-33kV projects.
Strong working knowledge of UK contestable connections, including G81 requirements, ENA standards and DNO/IDNO approval processes.
Proven ability to review and interpret electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, layouts, cable routes and substation arrangements, with AutoCAD experience.
Demonstrable experience building tender cost models from first principles, including materials, labour, plant, prelims, risk and contingency allowances.
Confident communicator with experience producing technically compliant tender submissions and supporting effective handover to delivery teams, with good awareness of NEC forms of contract
