We are looking for a Gardener to join our team on a part-time basis at Gittisham Hill Park. This role will support the Estate Supervisor in maintaining the grounds and assisting with general maintenance around the village, which comprises 32 residential properties. The position involves working 16-18 hours per week over 3 days, including Fridays.
As a Gardener in our retirement village, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and satisfaction of our residents by maintaining and enhancing the community's physical environment. Your responsibilities include routine maintenance, addressing residents' service requests, and supporting various projects to create a safe, comfortable, and attractive living space.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and common areas
* Ensure proper functioning of lighting
* Address and resolve residents' maintenance requests promptly
* Maintain outdoor furniture and amenities in good condition
* Communicate effectively with residents and staff regarding maintenance schedules and activities
* Maintain grounds, including grassed areas, beds, woodlands, fences, roadways, paths, and paved areas, to a high standard
* Report defects or faults that may compromise safety immediately
* Conduct regular inspections and monthly checks with the Facilities Manager
* Perform painting and decorating tasks
* Treat roads and pathways with salt/grit during winter months as needed
* Ensure the structure, fixtures, fittings, and equipment are properly maintained

* Previous experience in maintenance or a related field is preferred
* Ability to safely use hand and power tools
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Physical ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects
