Contract Type: Full-time (37.5 hours), Permanent

Location: Cardiff, Cardiff International Study Centre

Salary: up to £ 30,000 per annum

To be part of the Student Experience Team and be responsible for coordinating student wellbeing, enrichment and engagement within the centre. The post holder will be operationally managed by the Student Experience Leader and will be responsible for the operational management of the Wellbeing Team. You will play a vital role in achieving the delivery of the best possible student experience. The role acts as DDSL or DSL ensuring the compliance of safeguarding with regulations and has the authority conferred on them to carry out this specific part of the role

ABOUT THE ROLE
1. Responsibility for the provision of student welfare, safeguarding, Prevent and Enrichment within the centre and the related administration and secure record-keeping
2. Ensure effective case management of all student welfare concerns or information on LDHD, ensuring fair case loading of the Welfare and Student Experience Officers.
3. Ensure the safeguarding of students in line with Study Group policy and standard operating procedures.
4. Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead or Designated Safeguarding Lead, with agreement of Centre Director) (responsibilities are set out in the DSL Handbook and authority is conferred to enable escalation and ability to raise safeguarding issues in line with regulations and the safeguarding escalation policy). As DSL or DDSL, monitor the escalation phone on a rota basis. Monitor student whereabouts and coordinate the procedure as required.
5. Create Agreed Support Plans (ASPs), including Safety Plans and Exit Plans, ensuring the necessary approval and escalation processes are followed.
6. Organise induction and other wellbeing, enrichment and engagement activities, produce related materials to help develop skills and sense of community in liaison with the Senior Coordinator Progression & Engagement where appropriate.
7. Collaborate and share appropriate information with the Senior Coordinator Progression & Engagement which may impact individual student performance and support with appropriate interventions.
8. Use data within year and end of year to identify enhancements to welfare and learning support and drive forward these changes
9. Ensure escalation of any concerns to the Student Experience Leader and Central Student Wellbeing team as required.
10. Work collaboratively with teams within the ISC to ensure a holistic and consistent approach to welfare support and to advocate and embed inclusive practice within the classroom.
11. Maintain the Wellbeing and Welfare section on the online Virtual Reception.
12. Build relationships with the University Partner to ensure a cooperative and collaborative relationship to promote effective engagement to the benefit of students.
13. Coordinate and motivate the Welfare and Enrichment Officers to contribute to ensuring the best possible student outcomes and student experience.
14. In liaison with the Central Student Wellbeing team, ensure supervision is provided to the Welfare and Enrichment Officers, including running case reviews to share experience.
15. Provide effective performance management of direct reports, including setting personal objectives and KPIs; regularly reviewing performance of direct reports; and conducting formal performance reviews according to company policy and procedures.
16. Facilitate, encourage and support staff to participate in regular personal development activity.
17. Recruit new staff as required according to Study Group policies and procedures.
18. Contribute to developing, communicating and enacting Study Group’s Student Experience and Wellbeing Strategy, framework, policy and standard operating procedures through the Wellbeing Communities of Practice and DSL meetings.
19. Support local awareness raising of safeguarding and safeguarding practices and procedures.
20. Ensure the effective and efficient maintenance of all quality and enhancement related policies, procedures, and documents relating to key areas of responsibility.
21. Contribute to the production of the Quarterly and Annual Safeguarding review and relevant parts of the Annual Monitoring Report.
22. Contribute to governance committees and groups as required.
23. Plan, oversee and monitor the implementation of actions from the Centre Action Plans relevant to student welfare and the Student Experience & Wellbeing Strategy.
24. Analyse data and feedback from a wide variety of sources to monitor impact relevant to student welfare support.
25. To assist in organising and delivering student induction, transition and enrichment activities.
26. To deal with general student queries – face to face, by email and phone.
27. To foster productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
28. Any other duties as required by the Student Experience Leader or Centre Director
ABOUT YOU
29. Bachelor degree (or equivalent experience to demonstrate ability to work and think independently)
30. Administration or management training or qualification
31. Higher level safeguarding training
32. Line management of staff
33. Supporting students in an educational context
34. Working to develop, build and maintain the Student Experience
35. Ability to structure your work in order to support student welfare and progression, and generate new ideas which will improve performance
36. A strong understanding of Student Support activities and their contribution to the ISC as a whole, or equivalent experience in a similar setting
37. A commitment to improve the team's performance and the ability to provide constructive feedback to team members about their work
38. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across functional areas, adopting a flexible working style
39. Excellent IT and data management skills including: competency in Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word, and a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies
40. Ability to extract, manipulate and analyse data for reporting, to aid decision making or to support a case for change
41. Diligent record keeping
42. Understanding the implications of you and your team's work in the wider context of the ISC and externally
43. Gathering of relevant information to aid good decision making
44. Ability to consider potential issues and put measures in place to deal with implications
45. Active listening skills
46. Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders, written and verbal, internal and external
47. Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues
48. Experience of leading a team or the supervision of a suitably complex task or project, which achieved a successful outcome
49. Experience providing feedback to another person about their performance, which achieved a positive improvement
50. Experience in HR duties, such as delivering training and/or taking part in the recruitment process
51. Experience of making judgements on support requirements with the ability to choose an approach that coordinates the workload within the team
52. Ability to complete complex processes independently and to manage the Student Support Team to follow instructions to achieve key deadlines
53. Ability to delegate activities and take responsibility for overseeing the successful completion
