Job Description:
Microchip’s Advanced Packaging team delivers a competitive advantage for its customers by miniaturizing electronic components to create smaller, smarter and more reliable circuit solutions.
As Principal Test Engineer you will support design, development and manufacturing of the companies next generation electronic modules.
This position will allow you to become an integral part of a team of specialists in materials, mechanical, electronics and packaging engineers that strive to push the boundaries of conventional microelectronics packaging. We are looking for an individual with a passion for exploration and breaking down barriers. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Formulating test strategies that meet the objective of lean product verification
2. Interpreting customer requirements to produce clear specifications
3. Developing bespoke ‘rack & stack’ systems, including hardware and software
4. Facilitating team-orientated risk management (FMEA and compliance review)
5. Planning and implementing product verification and validation activities
6. Analysing and interpreting test data versus application requirements
7. Articulating product performance to a multi-disciplinary group
8. Measurement System Analysis
9. Identifying and implementing continual improvement projects
10. Disciplined problem solving
11. Support in-house training programmes as required.
12. Travel internationally on occasion as requested.
Requirements/Qualifications:
13. Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline
14. 7+ years’ experience of working in a concurrent engineering environment
15. Proven project management abilities (scheduling, contingency planning, budget tracking, expediting)
16. Conversant with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) approach to introduction of new high-reliability products
17. Structured and disciplined approach
18. Articulate – able to convey technical options/arguments in a concise way
19. Comfortable leading and facilitating team technical activities
20. Focused on business results and process improvement
21. Flexible – able and willing to contribute to all aspects of the team’s work
