At Doncasters we have an exciting opportunity for a Group Financial Controller to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity reporting directly to the CFO, this role will be hybrid from the East midlands.
The Role
As the Group Financial Controller you will be responsible for the day to day running of the Group’s financial accounting process and will set, maintain and deliver timely financial reporting for the Group for submission to the CFO and wider Board whilst ensuring that both Corporate and Statutory compliance is adhered to.
This role will also support the business in technical accounting judgements and making sound commercial decisions, with a focus on improved profitability and cashflow. Additionally, the role will lead the HQ Finance team driving engagement and embedding our Team Doncasters & Winning Mindset culture.
* Full financial responsibility for the day to day running and financial accounting of the Group Finance function
* Plan and communicate the Group reporting cycle, ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of all financial reporting, including monthly management accounts, Budget and forecast processes as well as annual audit cycle
* Plan and run the Group’s annual external audit, acting as primary point of contact for external auditor (KPMG) relationship, with optimal application of all up to date accounting standards
* Ensure preparation of first-class documentation for the Audit & Risk Committee, participate in the meetings and ensure a good level of interaction with the Audit & Risk Committee chair and wider Committee members
* Play a lead role in the compilation of Board, Shareholder and Ratings Agency reporting, including ad hoc requirements, working closely with the CFO and CEO and co-ordinating responses from other sites and functions where necessary
* Ensure the maintenance and capability of the Finance Systems, taking a leadership role in any future finance system implementations and upgrades
* Work closely with the site FDs/FCs to establish and maintain an effective business control framework and accurate reporting
* Responsible for the preparation and review of all monthly balance sheet reconciliations, general sub-ledger submissions, trial balance and account analyses at HQ level
* Leading and motivating the Group Finance team including group management reporting, group FP&A, financial (statutory) accounting and technical accounting
* Work closely with Group Tax Director and team to ensure tax embedded in management and financial reporting and forecasting.
* Leader for technical accounting excellence within the Group and owner of key financial policies including Doncasters Accounting Procedures & Policies (DAPPs) and Group expenses policy and procedures
Experience and Qualifications:
* A recognised qualification e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA etc
* Experience leading a team
* Manufacturing accounting experience
* Strong understanding of accounting concepts and applications in IFRS context as well as being used to dealing with regulations
* Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
* A track record of improving reporting, processes, systems and teams
* Strong working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software, exposure to Hyperion beneficial
* Can demonstrate ability to effectively lead and constructively challenge at all levels of an organisation
* Previous responsibility for tax, treasury or wider IT systems beneficial
