Here’s who we are: At Team Updraft our DNA is in world-leading software for WordPress that helps our customers to backup, restore, clone, secure and optimize their WordPress websites. Our global team is behind some of the most popular WordPress plugins in the world, used by more than 5 million WordPress website owners. We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Developer to join us, with a passion for security and demonstrable experience in this area. You will have the option to choose your own hours from 32 up to 40 per week and can work remotely from anywhere in the world, with a requirement to have 4 hours of crossover with UK working hours per day.
Role
Lead Developer (All-In-One Security) — AIOS plugin. Fully remote with a competitive salary (depending on experience). You will help develop one of the world’s leading WordPress security plugins (All-In-One Security: WordPress Security Plugin, aiosplugin.com) and protect over 1 million websites worldwide. You will work with a small, global team involved in development and testing, overseeing the development and maintenance of the AIOS plugin, ensuring features are delivered to a high standard and guiding the work of other developers.
Responsibilities
* Work in PHP, JavaScript and WordPress libraries to write clean, efficient and secure code.
* Line manage the plugin development team.
* Ensure tasks are appropriately assigned, reviewed, and completed by the team.
* Maintain high technical standards in the code base.
* Utilise senior developer knowledge to achieve the best direction for the plugin.
* Identify priorities, resolve blockers.
* Act as the key point of contact for technical queries related to the plugin.
* Liaise with QA and Product Managers to align development work with wider business goals.
* Your exact responsibilities will depend on experience and team context and are subject to discussion and agreement.
Requirements
* You’ll definitely need experience with:
o PHP — experience developing in WordPress, ideally for plugin development.
o JavaScript — a smaller but important part of the role.
o Online security — keeping up to date with the latest threats and security issues affecting websites.
o Firewalls or related security technologies.
o Managing other developers.
Nice to have
* GitHub / GitLab / Git experience is beneficial but can be learned quickly by strong developers; SVN experience is a plus.
