A well-established and growing company is looking to appoint a proactive and hands‑on Transport Manager to join their team on the outskirts of Cambridge.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, combining transport planning, compliance, and customer interaction within a busy, fast‑paced environment.
The Role
* Play a key part in ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day running of transport operations, working closely with the Depot Manager.
* Coordinate and plan multi‑drop deliveries to customers.
* Maximise route efficiency through strong geographical knowledge.
* Manage vehicle maintenance schedules and bookings.
* Monitor driver compliance, including tachograph downloads and records.
* Ensure adherence to driving hours regulations and the Working Time Directive.
* Support the wider team with customer interaction, including answering calls and assisting at the trade counter.
This is a hands‑on position where no two days are the same, offering exposure to both operational and customer‑facing aspects of the business.
About You
* Previous experience within a busy transport or logistics environment.
* CPC qualification and strong tachograph knowledge (essential).
* A solid understanding of driver compliance, WTD, and transport regulations.
* Experience within a builders merchants, construction supply, or similar environment (highly desirable).
* Confidence dealing with customers both over the phone and face‑to‑face.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a fast‑paced setting.
* A positive, “can‑do” attitude with a willingness to support across the team.
