Job Description
Care in Mind provides residential services for young people aged 16–30 years who may experience self‑harm, behavioural and emotional difficulties. The role of a floating waking night support worker is to work across the Care in Mind portfolio of services covering Cheshire, Stockport, Bury and Bolton. You will receive comprehensive training and ongoing support from a friendly residential and clinical team. The job offers an opportunity to develop a career working with young people and to advance in mental health care.
Responsibilities
* Work night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
* Attend training sessions held on weekdays throughout employment.
* Write basic reports and record information accurately.
* Complete routine online care forms and write emails.
* Communicate verbally and listen to others effectively.
* Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
* Remain calm and support others during emergencies and difficult situations.
* Update online care records and administer medication as required.
* Assist young people in gaining independence through education, household tasks and life skills.
* Ensure the general upkeep and tidiness of the home so that residents live in a homely environment.
* Conduct interventions to promote continuity of care in line with Care in Mind policies and procedures.
Requirements
* Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
* Good written communication skills and ability to produce basic reports.
* Basic IT skills – use of an online care system, completing forms, writing emails.
* Good verbal communication and listening skills.
* Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
* Ability to remain calm in emergencies and support others during difficult situations.
* Flexibility to work night shifts, weekends and bank holidays.
Desirable skills and experience
* NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Care.
* Previous experience working with young people who have mental health needs.
