Location: Stevenage Job Summary Role Summary As a Senior Compute Platform Specialist/Senior IT Platform Specialist, you'll leverage your extensive expertise in Infrastructure and Networking to ensure the seamless operation of both Cloud-based and on-premise Compute environments in partnership with external collaborators. Your pivotal role involves shaping our Infrastructure Services strategy, evaluating, advocating, and integrating state-of-the-art infrastructure technologies. You'll spearhead continuous improvement initiatives and oversee lifecycle management within our operational framework, contributing significantly to our organization's success. Key Responsibilities Designing, implementing and operational management of robust infrastructure solutions in Microsoft Azure and on-premise Azure Stack HCI. Work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure system implementations conform to industry standards, internal standards, compliance, and security mandates. Provide oversight with 3rd party service providers from proposal evaluation to project execution in to operational support. Oversee and maintain ongoing lifecycle management of Compute platforms and services. Driving continuous improvement across all compute infrastructure services. Conduct routine preventative maintenance, system checks, and updates, addressing any discrepancies promptly. Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to less experienced colleagues. Author and maintain HLD's, LLD's and support documentation is kept up-to-date. Participate in governance forums including Technical Design Authority (TDA), Change Management, and Problem Management discussions. Demonstrated skills and competencies E - Essential P - Preferred Technical Proficiency: Over 10 years of experience as an IT Infrastructure Systems administrator with cloud infrastructure (Azure) and On-Premise HCI platforms (E) Demonstrated proficiency in technologies such as PKI systems, Active Directory, file services, Backup and Recovery solutions, Windows and Linux Servers, Patch Management, vulnerability management, remote access management, and network protocols (SMTP, NTP, DNS). (E) Familiarity with Microsoft Intune for mobile device and application management. (P) Have recent technical hands on experienced with End User computers and where required, roll up sleaves to assist with complex technical issues. (P) Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and develop junior members of the team. (E) Good written and verbal communication. (E) Present technical solutions to a non-technical audience. (P) Vendor and Stakeholder Management: Experience in managing relationships with IT vendors and service providers. (E) Enjoy working with business stakeholders and a passion for solving business problems. (E) Change Management and Continuous Improvement: Proven experience in leading change management initiatives related to IT service improvements, including process improvements, technology upgrades. (P) Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and drive continuous improvement initiatives. (E) Possess an keen eye for detail, ensuring the highest standards of quality and precision in all tasks (E) Compliance and Risk Management: Experience in highly regulated industries (P) Experience in managing IT Risks and Technical Debt. (P) Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline. (Preferred) or equivalent technical hands on experience. Relevant Industry recognised Infrastructure certifications and accreditations.
