You will have a key role within the Valuation and Estates Team in the Property and Assets Directorate. The team is responsible for delivering a professional service to meet all West Sussex County Council's property requirements. This includes acquiring and managing land and buildings, as well as handling their disposal. The role offers a diverse range of responsibilities and will provide valuable exposure to a range of property projects, including landlord and tenant matters as well as some development opportunities. You will carry out the negotiation of lease and licence agreements, rent reviews, and the disposal of assets surplus to operational requirements. You will get the chance to get out and about and go to our properties. Additionally, you will manage the Council’s rates and council tax payments and some other administration tasks managing our tenants building all round expertise. We support apprenticeship training and would be pleased to receive any applications from those who are currently studying the Level 6 Chartered Surveyor apprenticeship or those considering this training route in the future. About you You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, communicating on several different levels with multiple stakeholders and adapting your style accordingly and the ability to negotiate property matters. This role requires the ability to works with external consultants, contractors, and suppliers, creating and maintaining effective working relationships. You will have some estate management or other relevant property experience ideally including some experience of Landlord and Tenant matters. You will have a knowledge and understanding of property legal contracts and some experience of lease agreements and/ or property sales. You will be able to make decisions confidently and in some cases recommendations, based on your market knowledge and experience.
