Overview
The YOS Officer will deliver a service that meets the individual needs of children and young people, their families, and caregivers, with a focus on reducing offending and preventing reoffending. The role involves working across the Youth Justice Service, wider Birmingham Children’s Trust, and partner agencies across the city to ensure young people have access to effective interventions that support pro‑social identity development and recovery from trauma.
Responsibilities
* Deliver tailored interventions to reduce offending and prevent reoffending.
* Work collaboratively across the Youth Justice Service and wider Trust.
* Ensure young people access appropriate support, services, and interventions.
* Support young people to build pro‑social identities and positive futures.
* Work with families, caregivers, and partner agencies to promote safety and wellbeing.
* Contribute to assessments, planning, and reviews in line with statutory requirements.
* This is a frontline role requiring strong communication skills, resilience, and a commitment to safeguarding and positive outcomes for young people.
Qualifications
* Qualified Social Care professional.
* Experience working with children and young people in a safeguarding, youth justice, or social care setting.
* Strong understanding of risk, trauma, and behaviour management.
* Ability to work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners.
* Excellent communication, engagement, and report‑writing skills.
* Commitment to promoting positive outcomes for vulnerable young people.
