Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Senior Planner to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland. What you'll be doing As a M&E Senior Planner you will be a fundamental part of our Project Controls team responsible for providing planning support, working with Project Managers, engineers and clients to develop and manage schedules to incorporate risk, change & resource requirements. The Following Qualities And Experience Are Essential Leading the M&E Planning team with key interface to the other business units/lead planners Leading, mentoring, and coaching the team of planning engineers across the M&E multi-discipline scopes of work Develop, control, monitor, analyse and report on schedule related aspects for the designated project Establish and monitor resource loaded, logic linked, baseline plan(s) for the project in accordance with project and corporate processes Capture project budgetary costs and resources in the plan to determine time phasing of expenditure and the total project budget Establish robust Work Breakdown Structures in terms of project scope and execution strategy Interface with other departments regarding the project’s activities which may have an impact and ensure correctly captured data is input to the schedule and portfolio correctly Facilitate acceptance of and ensure that the project plan embraces the full project work scope, is fit for purpose and is achievable Maintain and control project baselines in line with clients’ procedures and guidance Ensure the reasons for, and the factors influencing each change to the project’s baseline plan and the implications of such change are understood and communicated with the wider project team Lead on EVM (Earned Value Management) and practice within the project schedules Challenging schedule and cost variances against the baseline plan and wider portfolio Integrate 3rd party schedules (Vendors & Subcontractors) and data into the overall project plan and work with external parties to aid successful delivery of the work scope Regular interfacing and integration with the project controls team to maintain an aligned portfolio by means of the Project Plan(s) Attend and guide progress meetings while building relationships and maintaining regular client / subcontractor contact Discuss and review plans with management and other stakeholders to identify priorities for construction and communicate the strategy Lead project risk analysis sessions and prepare risk mitigation plan(s) Ensure project documentation and files are maintained in line with company procedures Prepare and present detailed planning information (Gantt charts etc) for use by project team Report slippages against project baseline and advise potential impact on project critical activities Collate and disseminate data required for monthly reporting Oversee subcontractors schedules/reporting, including monitoring of contractor attendance and progress; providing direct instruction and support as necessary such that contractual arrangements are achieved Assist with people management and resourcing of the project Embrace learning and development opportunities Live the Balfour Beatty Values Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm Support the delivery of UKCS’s Sustainability activities Ensuring documents are compliant with latest works information and kept Up To Date and reviewed on a minimum 6 monthly basis Who we're looking for The successful candidate will have the following personal qualities and experience: Experience across the project lifecycle (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning processes) Excellent Primavera (P6) knowledge and experience Experience in building cost and resource loaded plans High level of numeracy and excellent analytical skills Experience / understanding in the interpretation of estimating, scheduling, programming and risk tools that exist in the Project Controls market Experience / understanding of Earned Value Analysis Relevant experience in Project Controls and/or Project Delivery, preferably in a highly regulated environment Ability to interact confidently with a project team Smart: Thinks broadly about the business, going beyond own professional knowledge to demonstrate sound commercial judgement.
