Job Description Civil Design Engineer (Drainage / Layout) Contract: 6 months (likely extension to 12) IR35: Outside Hours: 7.5 per day, 5 days per week Locations: Edinburgh, Dublin, Cork or Belfast (local candidates preferred) We are looking for a Civil Design Engineer to support ongoing onshore energy and infrastructure projects, including early works for a substation, grid-enabling developments, and battery storage schemes. The position reports to the respective Project Manager or Head of Onshore and will involve delivering detailed civil and drainage designs as part of a multidisciplinary project team. Interested? Key Responsibilities Produce detailed designs and drawings for drainage, earthworks, and road layouts using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and InfoDrainage Support the development of concept and detailed design packages for onshore energy infrastructure Assist in the preparation of SuDS, hydraulic modelling, and flood risk assessments Develop and coordinate cut and fill volumetrics, road alignments, and drainage layouts Contribute to the integration of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) in accordance with CIRIA guidance and local authority or environmental agency requirements Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including local authorities and regulatory bodies Support compliance with DMRB, Sewers for Adoption, and relevant Building Regulations Requirements Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil or infrastructure design Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and InfoDrainage Strong technical understanding of drainage and infrastructure design principles Familiarity with BIM workflows and digital collaboration tools Experience working on projects involving local authorities, Transport Scotland, Network Rail, or similar clients For more information or to apply please contact Angus McCormick directly
