Thisis a substantive 10PA appointment for a Consultant Dermatologist with specialinterest in Paediatric Dermatology. This post will be available from March 2026.
The Leeds Centre for Dermatology is internationallyrenowned for its clinical and academic excellence. In addition to GeneralDermatology, the department provides specific expertise at a tertiary level inconnective tissue disease, complex medical dermatology, genital disorders,laser dermatology, photobiology, contact allergy, dermatological surgeryincluding Mohs surgery, melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer, paediatricdermatology and clinical trials.
Thepost-holder will become a key senior member of the paediatric dermatology teamas well as supporting adult general dermatology, skin cancer services and dermatologicalsurgery.
Main duties of the job
Thepost will be based at Chapel Allerton Hospital with clinics at Leeds GeneralInfirmary as well as advisory participation in the acute dermatology on-call rotacovering the whole Trust.
Thesuccessful applicant should possess MRCP (or equivalent) and should be includedon the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview,if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointmentregulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the SpecialistRegister.
Theapplicant must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience andcompetence in all aspects of dermatology including specific experience inpaediatric dermatology, acute presentations and skin cancer diagnosis/treatment.
Astrong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interestis desirable.

Job responsibilities
In relation to this post,within the Leeds Centre for Dermatology, principally based at Chapel AllertonHospital, offers the successful candidate the opportunity to join a dynamic andinnovative department, primarily within the paediatric dermatology team whichcurrently comprises 3 consultant roles and team of Clinical Nurse Specialists.The role will also involve working within the world recognised skin cancer unitwhich hosts the Regional Specialist MDT for Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer, Melanomaand
Cutaneous Lymphoma. Thereare also close working relationships with the Head and Neck MDT
and the Sarcoma MDT.
The post holder will be amember of the non-melanoma MDT.
In addition to activityin paediatric dermatology and skin cancer the role involves providing clinicsin general dermatology with an opportunity for further sub-specialisationdepending on individual skill set and experience.
2. OBJECTIVES OF THE POST
The post will primarily support theSpecialist Paediatric Dermatology service with additional roles within the skincancer and adult general dermatology services.
Specifically:
* To contribute to and enhancethe provision of the paediatric dermatology service
* To enhance the currentprovision of rapid access diagnostic skin cancer clinics and enable the
* Trustto meet agreed levels of activity and access targets.
* To enhance the currentprovision of skin cancer surgery.
* To contribute to the provisionof a comprehensive skin cancer multidisciplinary team.
* To contribute to enhancing thecurrent provision for adult general dermatology services.
Person Specification
Experience
* Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of dermatology including acute presentations, skin cancer diagnosis and treatment and paediatric dermatology.
* Specifically, they must demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in dermatological surgery.
* Experience in teledermatology.
* Experience in more complex paediatric dermatology including prescription of systemic/ biologic treatments and genetic conditions.
Training, Research, Teaching & Audit
* Should have completed a recognised training programme in in Dermatology and have either a certificate of completion of training (CCST or CCT) or be expected to receive this within the next 6 months or have equivalent experience such that they are on the specialist register.
* Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
* Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
* Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.
* Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
* Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
Qualifications
* Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
* YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE CLEARLY STATED IN YOUR APPLICATION.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Is up to date and fit to practise safely.
* Higher degree e.g., MD/PhD relevant to the subspecialty.
