SALARY: £13.25 per hour

Location: Hinckley, LE10

RESPONSIBLE TO: Home Manager

We have exciting opportunities for dedicated, passionate and committed individuals to join our "Ofsted Outstanding" Children's Home based in the Hinckley (Leicestershire area).

The home cares for Children and Young People with Learning Disabilities.

Although experience would be an advantage, it is not an absolute requirement, so if you feel you have transferrable or relevant skills, you can relate, and support children and young people, we would like to hear from you.

We are flexible regarding Full or Part-Time hour contracts, we will also consider candidates who may be looking for Bank. Waking Night Shifts vary across weekdays and Weekends, offering you the flexibility to work around commitments you may already have.

You will be paid for completing a comprehensive Induction Programme involving face-to-face training, e-learning and shadowing experienced members of your team.

Working as part of a team, you will be required to provide support throughout the night along with other staff members.

You will get access to our full range of training/induction with options for permanent work if that is your requirement.

PERSON SPECIFICATION : Residential Support Worker- Children's Home

* Diploma in Level 3/4 in Children and Young People Workforce (Preferred but not essential).
* Experience of working with young people that have social, emotional or learning difficulties.(Ideal but not essential).
* Full driving licence (required).

Main purpose of the Job - Residential Support Worker- Children's Home

To provide advice, assistance and support to young people, safeguarding their welfare at all times. To attend to their practical, physical and emotional needs. To act as an appropriate role model and to work closely with them to enable them to address their difficulties and achieve their optimum potential.

Duties and Responsibilities of Residential Support Worker- Children's Home

Provide care for young people through:

* Attending to practical matters in relation to childcare (cooking, cleaning etc)
* Establishing positive relationships with young people and always offering them unconditional and positive regards
* Meeting the physical, learning, behavioural and educational needs of young people
* Acting as a role model and demonstrating appropriate pro-social ways of dealing with problems
* Ensuring that each young person's care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs
* Attending young people's meetings and contributing to them
* Driving company vehicles (current driving licence holders subject to procedures)
* Receiving training appropriate to role and maintaining an up to date training profile
* Responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of self and colleagues in accordance with the requirements of the organisational Health and Safety Policies
* To carry out all other reasonable tasks as directed by the line manager

Knowledge & Skills

* Ability to relate to and communicate with young people forming and maintaining appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with young people
* Awareness of young people's needs
* Awareness of safeguarding issues and ability to safeguard the welfare of young people
* Ability to work under own initiative
* Ability to take direction and work as part of a team
* Ability to work in partnership and liaise with other professionals
* Basic household skills
* Ability to recognise and acknowledge training needs and respond appropriately
* Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours
* Understanding Equal Opportunities and Anti - Discriminatory Practice issues
* Understanding challenging behaviour and methods of control

Shift patterns:

* Shifts can be subject to rota change to meet the needs of the home.
* Shift times are 22:00 - 08:00
* Pro Rota (subject to change and needs of the business)

Please note that you must be 21 years of age or above to apply due to children's homes regulations.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
