Mechanical Supervisor – 12-Month FTC (Potential to Go Permanent)
Location: Barrow upon Humber
Salary: £55,000 + Tonnage Bonus + Overtime
Hours: 12-hour shifts | 180-hour monthly contract (overtime paid over this)

Key Responsibilities
Support the Engineering Manager in day-to-day mechanical operations.
Split role: 50% hands-on with machinery / 50% leadership, planning, and coordination.
Lead, train, and develop the mechanical team to achieve high performance and safety standards.
Take ownership of conveyors, belt systems, mobile plant, and other automated processes.
Deputise for the Engineering Manager when required
Oversee and improve planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and asset management systems.
Supervise and coordinate contractors, third-party engineers, and cross-functional teams.
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental regulations, driving a strong safety culture.
Manage spare parts inventory, maintenance records, defect reports, and compliance documentation.
Issue work orders, coordinate site maintenance tasks, and support risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
Support site improvement projects, capital investment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Act as a key point of contact for all mechanical engineering matters, promoting reliability and operational excellence.
About You
Experienced Mechanical Supervisor (or similar senior role) from a heavy industrial/engineering environment.
Strong mechanical knowledge – conveyors, belt systems, mobile plant, and automated machinery.
Hands-on and confident leading from the front.
Health & Safety focused – committed to driving safety and environmental improvements.
Proven leadership ability – able to motivate and develop a team in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable deputising for senior management and making confident decisions.
Proactive, resilient, and not afraid to challenge the norm or drive change.
Flexible to support shift and weekend work as needed.
