JOB PURPOSE
The Teen Club Leader will be responsible for supervising and providing a stimulating environment for young people, working within the objectives of the Ohana charity to give respite for parents of young people with additional needs. You will also help provide activities that reflect the young people's ages and individual needs.
In addition, you will support the charity's wider activities by:
* Providing occasional holiday cover at our Play Club for young people aged 0–11.
* Assisting with occasional fundraising events.
* Helping review policies and procedures in collaboration with the Project Coordinator.
* Monitoring and responding to Teen Club emails.
A work phone and laptop will be provided to support you in your duties.
MAIN DUTIES
* Follow the open and close procedure for the venue.
* Follow the money handling procedure for fees and petty cash.
* Support families by providing an interactive environment and experiences that also provide respite for parents who remain on site. This includes engaging and interacting with young people when appropriate.
* Take into consideration young people's individual needs when engaging or interacting with them.
* Make the necessary preparations for activities, including setting up the space and guiding volunteers in how to prepare the area. This includes packing away after the session.
* Provide snacks and refreshments, ensuring that food hygiene and health & safety standards are met.
* Administer first aid where necessary and provide care if parents are not available.
* Work within the framework of the charity's policies and procedures, including accident reporting, behaviour management, health and safety, and inclusion.
* Carry out general admin tasks, such as rotas for volunteers and distributing workloads among volunteers and assistants.
* Facilitate good communication between assistants, charity trustees, and parents/carers.
* Undertake any appropriate training for the role and attend necessary meetings.
* Monitor and respond to Teen Club emails in a timely manner.
* Assist with reviewing policies and procedures as they come up for review with the help of the Project Coordinator.
* Provide occasional holiday cover at Play Club (ages 0–11) and assist with occasional fundraising events.
SUPERVISION AND PLANNING
The Teen Club Leader will supervise Assistants and Volunteers within the setting and work with team members on planning activities and setting up the space. You will be responsible for supervising young people at all times, even when parents are present on site, and will be confident in assessing risks in activities to determine the required level of supervision.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
* Experience or qualifications in working with young people, including those with additional needs.
* Ability to supervise young people, staff members, and volunteers.
* Enthusiastic, organised, with good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
* Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
* A qualification in Paediatric First Aid and food hygiene is desirable (training will be provided if not already held).
