Location: Warrington Head Office/Workshop but attending sites UK wide for breakdown assistance

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, versatile and committed hands-on Plant Fitter to support the reliability and maintenance of our specialist airfield plant and equipment. This is a varied, hands-on role ensuring critical operational equipment remains safe, compliant, and fully functional. The Plant Fitter will be key to our business operations, providing mobile support across our sites and main workshop. You will be responsible for attending airfield sites to carry out breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance, inspections, and detailed fault-finding on a wide range of specialist machinery. Working closely with operational teams, you’ll ensure equipment downtime is minimised, and performance is optimised to minimise disruption.

Key Responsibilities
Some of your main responsibilities will include:

1. Attend airfield sites to diagnose, repair, and resolve breakdowns efficiently and safely.
2. Deliver and oversee the planned maintenance schedule, ensuring all tasks are completed on time.
3. Complete accurate service records, inspection reports and daily work sheets on the Reflow system and compliance documentation. Manage service intervals and preventative maintenance.
4. Source, identify, and procure specialist parts and components from approved suppliers.
5. Conduct routine inspections and safety checks where required. Stripping equipment and plant in a safe manner.
6. Issue toolbox talks and basic maintenance training and advice to operational staff.
7. Manage and maintain stock levels of critical spares and consumables.
8. Support equipment commissioning, testing, and post-repair verification.
9. Ensure all work is carried out in line with H\&S requirements, COSHH regulations, and relevant industry standards.
10. Provide technical advice, fault diagnosis guidance, and recommendations for equipment improvements.
11. Undertake minor fabrication works as needed and liaise with approved suppliers for larger fabrication requirements, ensuring requirements are accurately communicated.
12. Assist with equipment upgrades, modification projects, and improvement initiatives. Source suitable plant and suppliers as required.
About You
You will ideally have:
13. Experience as a Plant Fitter, Mechanical Engineer, Field Service Engineer, or similar role.
14. Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical diagnostic skills.
15. Ability to work independently, often on remote or secure airfield sites.
16. Strong organisational skills and a methodical approach to record‑keeping.
17. A full UK driving licence (essential).
18. Experience working with specialist light plant & equipment; airfield experience beneficial but training is provided
