Overview
Telford & Wrekin Council is seeking an experienced Building Control Specialist with a class 3 or above qualification to motivate and oversee a dynamic professional Building Control Team working on major development projects. You will lead on major developments, providing innovative, creative solutions and ensuring compliance with legislation to keep projects safe and accessible for many years to come.
We are looking for someone ready for a challenge to lead on some of the country’s most exciting and ambitious projects. You will coordinate the professional delivery of Building Control services, ensuring regulatory compliance and on-time delivery across the Borough.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
* Leading multi-disciplinary design teams to achieve client/council/regulatory objectives, ensuring compliance and completion within budget
* Overseeing daily activity and workloads of the team to meet objectives and targets
* Leading enforcement of legislation and overseeing consistency and compliance of the technical service; addressing issues with wider bodies including Registered Building Control Approvers
* Coordinating quotes for potential work
* Contributing to the development of policies and procedures to improve and deliver best practice
You’ll bring to the team
* Technical expertise and experience of managing complex Building Regulation applications under the Building Act 1984
* Proven project management experience, combining regulatory compliance and time management to deliver within timescales and budgetary constraints
* Excellent communication skills with experience of developing and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and clients
* Previous experience of leadership and mentorship of junior colleagues
* Proven ability to problem solve and provide innovative, forward-thinking solutions
