About the Opportunity
Join our dynamic, growing on-site farm shop as the hands on Butchery manager. Work closely with our farm shop manager and a dedicated team to deliver exceptional produce to local customers and nationwide through our online shop.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Lead all aspects of carcass butchery for our home-reared beef, lamb, and pork
* Organise, delegate, and motivate a small team of butchers to ensure smooth daily operations
* Oversee preparation and fulfilment of meat for in-person, online, and wholesale orders
* Serve customers, providing expert advice and outstanding service
* Develop and prepare value-added products (burgers, sausages, etc.)
* Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety compliance
* Complete all required paperwork and ensure adherence to relevant legislation
* Collaborate with bakery, catering, and farm teams to support a cooperative, creative workplace
* Contribute creative ideas for promotions and new products to balance carcass use and drive business growth
* Handle phone calls, book orders, and respond to customer emails as needed
Requirements
* NVQ (or equivalent) qualification in butchery
* Proven experience in whole carcass butchery (beef, lamb, pork)
* Strong leadership skills with a hands-on, team-focused approach
* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Effective communicator, able to work across departments
* Creative flair for developing offers, promotions, and new products
* Up-to-date knowledge of food safety and industry trends
