​ JOB DESCRIPTION ​ Job Title Nurse/Sonographer Qualifications Registered Nurse/Sonography Hours Full Time 37.50 hours per week About the Role: Are you a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse with a passion for sonography? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic team at CRGH. As a Nurse/Sonographer, you will play a pivotal role in providing exceptional patient care while delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services. Key Responsibilities: Patient Care Excellence: Deliver compassionate, professional care in line with the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority (HFEA) Code of Practice, the National Healthcare Standards Commission, Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct, CQC, and ISO9001 standards. Effective Communication: Foster positive relationships with patients, families, and the clinical team, ensuring clear communication and continuity of care while respecting diversity and confidentiality in line with HFEA guidelines. Patient Assessment & Care: Report any patient conditions or concerns to medical staff, ensuring prompt and accurate follow-through on instructions. Maintain awareness of current sonography techniques to provide optimal care. Diagnostic Imaging: Perform sonographic procedures with high ethical standards and proficiency. Demonstrate a strong understanding of diagnostic imaging technology and its application to patient care. Confidentiality & Documentation: Handle sensitive patient information with the utmost confidentiality, using ethical judgment and critical thinking in documentation, including computerized sonographic reports. Collaboration & Support: Work closely with the Nurse Manager and the wider nursing team to ensure smooth operations and effective patient care. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and be an approachable resource for your colleagues. Audit & Compliance: Participate in audits, including ISO9000, HFEA, CQC, and Risk Assessments, to ensure that all practices meet regulatory and quality standards. Primary Duties (Ultrasonography): Weekend Rotation: You will be required to work at least one weekend in every four, ensuring continuity of care during these critical times. Supportive Teamwork: Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to manage daily tasks and responsibilities within the nursing team, addressing HR inquiries and providing support as needed. Confidentiality & Sensitivity: Handle sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion, maintaining confidentiality at all times. Nursing Duties: Provide detailed information and guidance to prospective patients and those undergoing treatment. Offer support and reassurance to patients awaiting treatment outcomes, helping them navigate their journey with care and compassion. Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring IDEAS (patient database) is updated with information related to consultations and treatments. Provide informed counselling to patients, referring them to appropriate counsellors when necessary, in line with HFEA guidelines. Administer prescribed injections and take blood and swabs for screening, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately. Manage medication as per Unit protocols, ensuring safety and accuracy. Stay up to date with cardiac arrest and fire procedures, attending mandatory training as required. Commit to ongoing professional development through Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities. Maintain mandatory training and professional registrations, ensuring they are updated annually. Ensure that scanning rooms are fully stocked at the start of each shift.
