Overview

The successful candidate will provide Obstetric and Gynaecology services at Medway and support the on-call rota for obstetric and gynaecology emergencies. A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and the Clinical Director within 3 months of commencement and signed off by the Chief Executive Officer, effective from appointment. The plan will be reviewed annually following the appraisal meeting and will set out duties, responsibilities and objectives for the coming year. Responsibilities

The candidate is expected to contribute to the on-call Obstetric rota and provide service cover as described below, in addition to the normal clinical duties.

* Provide obstetric and gynaecology services at Medway and support the on-call rota for obstetric and gynaecology emergencies.
* Contribute to on-call rotas as specified in the job plan (see below).
* Participate in the preparation and agreement of the annual job plan with the Clinical Director and annual review thereafter.

On-call and job plan details (example framework to be confirmed in the formal plan):

* On-call arrangements: 2.2 programmed activities (PAs) for on-call cover; 1:20 weekdays and 1:20 weekends (resident on-call 08:30–22:00).
* Predictable workload: Weekdays 1.0 PA; Weekends 0.2 PAs; Non-predictable Weekdays 0.2 PA; Non-predictable Weekends 0.2 PA.
* An extra 5% on-call supplement (Category A) is attached to the job plan.
* On-site resident on-call from 08:30 to 21:30. Off-site on-call from 21:30 until the next morning (24 hours in total).
* No prospective cover; substitutions may be required for annual leave.

Other arrangement details may be confirmed at appointment and in the formal job plan.


Qualifications and References

One of your referees should be the Medical Director / Chief Medical Officer of your most recent NHS employer (or their nominated deputy), or equivalent for applicants from outside the NHS. For applicants from outside the NHS, referees should validate a period of three consecutive years of employment. For internal candidates, referees should be your Clinical Director and Clinical Lead. For applicants who are still in a training post, or have completed training within the past year and have not worked in a non-training NHS role since then, a reference from EACH of your two most recent Educational Supervisors is required.
