A Band 6 developmental role will be considered with the applicant working towards Band 7 in line with the ACCEND pathway. This is a part-time post for 30 hours per week within the Urological cancer nurse specialist team. The team is friendly and committed to staff personal and professional development. We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated and passionate senior nurses who are compassionate, caring and can work well with a wide range of professional colleagues caring for complex patients with a cancer diagnosis. The post is based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Townlands Hospital and Bracknell Healthspace. Informal visits, telephone or email discussions prior to application are strongly encouraged.
Working in a small and friendly team within a larger CNS service, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to care for patients and their families, deliver high service standards, share best practice and actively improve work processes. You will provide autonomous nurse-led services alongside the rest of the team.
Responsibilities
* Offer support and signposting for patients at diagnosis and onwards.
* Provide symptom advice and support for a group of patients with complex and often fast-changing needs.
* Holistic Needs Assessment.
* Multidisciplinary team working.
* Telephone assessment and follow-up.
* Work as an expert in the clinical field to deliver specialist clinical services to patients with Urological cancers and cancer of unknown primary.
* Provide holistic needs assessment and individualised compassionate care and be responsible for the delivery of patient-focused programmes of care.
* Collaborate with other professional groups in secondary and primary settings to maintain holistic services for patients.
* Provide specialist, interdisciplinary education and training to other staff and students.
* Clinically manage and influence the cancer pathway for patients with a cancer diagnosis.
* Work strategically to develop the service locally and nationally.
* Lead clinical audits in the own area.
* Participate in/facilitate/undertake research in the specialist field.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Enthusiastic, self-motivated and passionate senior nurses who are compassionate, caring and able to work with a wide range of professional colleagues caring for patients with a cancer diagnosis.
* Experience in or willingness to develop expertise in urological cancers and cancer care in a CNS role.
* Flexibility to work across multiple sites (Royal Berkshire Hospital, Townlands Hospital, Bracknell Healthspace).
* Approach to staff development and contribution to a positive learning environment.
