About LMH Oxford Summer Programmes LMH is looking to appoint a number of Group Leaders to contribute to the practical organisation and running of the College’s short academic summer programmes. LMH Oxford Summer Programmes are intensive courses of study for visiting students, consisting of lectures, seminars, and tutorials alongside a social and cultural programme of trips and activities. Programme Dates: Session 1: 28 June – 18 July 2026 Session 2: 19 July – 8 August 2026 Session 3: 9 August – 29 August 2026 Once appointed, Group Leaders will need to be available for paid training days in late June. The Role: Group Leader We are recruiting a team of Group Leaders (GLs) to play a vital role in ensuring students have a safe, engaging, and supported summer experience at LMH. Group Leaders are at the heart of the programme’s pastoral care provision — offering guidance, checking in on student wellbeing, and helping create an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere. They also assist with delivering the social and cultural programme, supporting logistics, and acting as a key link between students and staff. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals with strong empathy, leadership skills, and enthusiasm for supporting young people in a diverse, international setting. Reporting Lines This role reports to the Commercial Operations Manager. Key Responsibilities Student Welfare & Pastoral Support Serve as a visible and approachable first point of contact for your student group Provide welfare and pastoral care to students Promote an inclusive and supportive environment, and help manage minor behavioural or interpersonal issues with care and sensitivity Support students’ adjustment to a new academic culture, especially international students new to Oxford or the UK Step in with calm and compassion during unexpected challenges (e.g. illness, anxiety, homesickness) Escalate welfare and disciplinary matters as needed Social & Cultural Programme Support Help plan and deliver on-site and off-site activities (e.g. punting, pub quizzes, walking tours, museum trips) Lead and supervise student groups during day trips to destinations outside of Oxford (eg, London, Bath, etc.) Encourage participation in events and ensure students feel included and engaged Logistics & Communication Liaise between students, Residential Advisors, and senior staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations Help manage sign-ups, student movement, and attendance across activities and academic sessions Participate in team briefings and share updates or concerns as needed Person Specification Essential Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a warm, approachable demeanour Demonstrated experience supporting others in a pastoral, mentoring, or peer leadership capacity Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset Highly organised and dependable under pressure Team-oriented, flexible, and able to adapt to a busy, residential setting Right to work in the UK Desirable Ideally pursuing a post-graduate qualification within the University of Oxford, or having just completed an undergraduate degree. Previous experience in residential life, youth programmes, or safeguarding roles Terms and Conditions Hours & Availability Working hours are expected to be around 40 hours per week. A flexible attitude is required, as there will be evening and weekend work. Paid training in late June (dates TBC) Benefits Pay: £16.82 (base salary plus holiday pay) Accommodation & Meals: This is a residential role, and onsite accommodation is provided.
