Bridge Design Engineer
An opportunity for a Chartered Civil Engineer to join a highly respected UK engineering consultancy delivering a wide-ranging portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. This Glasgow-based role is ideal for an engineer with a strong technical background in bridge and structural design, looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and collaborative team environment.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a variety of sectors, including highway and rail bridges, coastal and flood defence schemes, marine infrastructure, and large-scale UK-wide developments.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will lead and contribute to the design, analysis, and delivery of projects from concept to construction, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction.

The key responsibilities for this Bridge Design Engineer role are:

* Carry out detailed analysis and design of bridges and other civil structures using engineering software (e.g., LUSAS, Midas, etc.)
* Prepare design calculations, drawings, reports, and technical documentation in compliance with industry standards and best practices for engineering projects.
* Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated and integrated project delivery.
* Participate in project planning, resource management, and quality assurance processes.
* Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
* Engage in client liaison and contribute to maintaining and developing long-term relationships.
* Assist with the preparation of bids, proposals, and fee estimates for new projects.

Experience required for this Bridge Design Engineer role are:

* Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the ICE or IStructE (or demonstrably working towards this).
* Relevant experience of civil and structural engineering problem-solving and development of sound engineering solutions.
* Proficient in structural analysis software (e.g., LUSAS, Midas, or similar FEA tools); familiarity with AutoCAD or BIM software is advantageous.
* Strong technical knowledge combined with effective communication and report-writing skills.
* A proactive and flexible team player with the confidence to take ownership of project elements.
* Ability to manage time effectively and work on multiple projects at different sizes simultaneously.

This is an opportunity to join a well-established, employee-focused consultancy that values technical excellence, collaboration, and sustainable design. With a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and professional development, the company is proud of the work it delivers and the long-term partnerships it builds with clients and communities across the UK.
