We are looking for SHEQ Director who would like to help us reach our mission to earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service.
Purpose of this role Lead the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Assurance (SHEQ) function for the BUUK Group. Provide strategic direction and support to enable the business to achieve market leading performance in all aspects of safety, occupational health, wellbeing and assurance.
Provide specialist expertise to ensure that the business is compliant with legislation, ISO certificated processes and procedures via a programme of independent audits and reviews.
Enhance BUUKs public profile in all aspects of health and safety management via involvement in, and leadership of, external representative bodies.
Lead the collective strategic direction and management of the wider ESG agenda.
Your key responsibilities are Development, co-ordination and monitoring of the BUUK Group SHEQ strategy, compliance and improvement plans, whilst maintaing the SHEQ budget.
Oversee the development of BUUK SHEQ policies and procedures to ensure BUUK remains legally compliant and is recognised as best in class in all aspects of health and safety, assurance management and performance.
Define and implement SHEQ initiatives aimed at ensuring continuous improvement in the associated performance.
Define and oversee the implementation/operation of a commercially appropriate occupational health strategy.
Lead the behavioural safety programme for the Group ensuring that you are an ambassador for the business.
Oversee the incident investigation process to establish root causes, ensure completion within standard and follow up on incidents providing leadership on major incidents and support to any regulatory action (court cases, inquests, etc), as well as maintaining relationships with external bodies (e.g. HSE and BSI) and professional/industry organisations.
Oversee the collection, collation and analysis of SHEQ data from individual group businesses and benchmark against best in class performers to develop improvement strategies and report to appropriate stakeholders.
Provide forums and mechanisms for the dissemination of SHEQ information across business unit boundaries.
Oversee the Group documentation management process that contributes to BUUK and group companys certifications e.g. ISO standards.
Provide leadership on the development and delivery of a suitable assurance programme for the BUUK Group.
Oversee currency of employee competence and accreditations including booking of training.
Oversee the Group Business Continuity function to maintain or resume critical business functions following a disruptive event therefore minimising the impact and ensuring the long-term survival and success of the business.
Research and prepare BUUK SHEQ monitoring and advice on the implications of any monitoring and advice on the implications of any legislative change that impacts the business.
Qualifications Degree level in an appropriate discipline.
Experience/Knowledge Significant experience in similar work at a senior level and have a proven track record of delivering and implementing in a large corporate environment.
Working knowledge of current Legislation, Standards and Specifications, Codes of Practice and recommendations relating to Safety, Health, Environment and Quality.
Abilities/Skills Proven leadership and change management at a senior level in construction and/or asset owning businesses.
Able to operate in a fast-paced organisation with a down to earth, hands-on style focussed on delivery.
Shows commitment to and upholds BUUK values and delivers tangible results showing strong business/commercial acumen.
Promotes and implements continuous improvement within span of control.
Self-motivated and action orientated with the proven ability and commitment to lead, develop and inspire the collective BUUK Group.
Demonstrate excellent communication, relationship management and influencing skills whilst being an effective collaborator with an easy to work with style.
Desirable Chartered membership of a relevant functional body e.g. CMIOSH. Relevant Post Graduate qualification.
Knowledge and experience of construction and asset operation.
Able to produce reports, presentations and other written material to a very high standard and tailored to different audiences.
Experience of working constructively with the health and safety regulatory agencies (HSE, EA, SEPA, Natural England, etc) and third party organisations e.g. BSi.

Cost of living annual pay review
