Service Manager Business Development
Work hours: 35 hours per week. Flexible working possible.
Position type: Permanent.
Salary: £60,883 - £66,321 (£33.36 - £36.34 per hour, including Distant Islands Allowance).
Applications are invited for the role of Service Manager Business Development with Orkney Islands Council's Marine Services.
Responsibilities
* Develop and coordinate the Department's Business Development Strategy for the range of harbours within the ports estate, including the Oil Port of Scapa Flow which handles a range of tanker traffic to both the Flotta Oil Terminal and ship to ship transfers within Scapa Flow and the harbours of Kirkwall and Stromness which support a vibrant cruise ship trade as well as passenger ro‑ro ferries, general cargo ships, fishing traffic and the marine leisure industry. * Undertake direct and indirect sales of port related services and advise the Harbour Master and Council leadership on market trends in all related service areas.
* Demonstrate positive growth in sales revenue as a result of the business development strategy.
* Be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
* Provide regular updates and reports to management.
Qualifications & Experience
* Substantial experience in a business and marketing field, ideally maritime related, and a proven successful business track record including experience of developing and implementing marketing and business development strategies.
* Qualification at SCQF 8/9 i.e. SVQ4, HND, General Degree, Higher Apprenticeship, Technical Apprenticeship. If not held, a minimum of 5 years previous relevant experience.
* Ability to travel nationally and internationally, and within Orkney to support the business development strategy.
* Subject to Level 1 Disclosure Scotland clearance.
Location & Travel
The post will be based in the Harbour Authority Building, Scapa, or other office accommodation in Kirkwall, in the Orkney Islands. The postholder would be expected to travel both nationally and internationally in support of the business development strategy.
