Health Visitor - Specialist Public Health Practitioner

Main duties of the job

Gedling Locality

Working base Park House Health and Social Care Centre

Gedling Healthy Families Team, provide a quality service to the local population, we are an integrated service, working with children and young people aged 0 - 19 and their families.

The team is a skill mixed team, taking leadership from Specialist Public Health Practitioners, providing a high standard of care, our staff receive a good training and induction package and a friendly supportive working environment.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Job responsibilities

The role will include services to antenatal women, completion of the Healthy Child Programme for under 5s, enhanced programmes of care within school and community settings for the 5 - 19 age group, breast feeding support and a strong element of leadership to the skill mix 0-19 cluster team.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* 1st level Registration with current NMC registration
* Registered Specialist Practitioner (Health Visitor / School Nurse)
* Non‑medical prescribing V100 (Health Visitor)
* Evidence of further professional development
* Recognised Teaching Qualification


Experience

* Demonstrate Health Visiting / School Nursing practice
* Experience of working in multi‑disciplinary team
* Experience of supervising junior staff.
* Experience of managing a team


Knowledge

* Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of current children & family health agenda
* Knowledge of national and local priorities
* Have knowledge of research and audit
* Awareness of national and local issues impacting healthcare
* Knowledge of management theories

Contractual Requirements

£38,682 to £46,580 a year per annum (pro rata for part time)
