This is an exciting new position to strengthen our cardiac diagnostic team and bring new individual skills to our department within Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. In addition, the post comprises general cardiology commitments and contribution to the cardiology on call rota.
It is our aim that this consultant appointment will develop and deliver a specialist heart valve clinic for Hampshire Hospitals patients, lead our echo team and service to British Society of Echocardiography departmental accreditation within 18 months, undertake specialist transoesophageal and stress echo imaging lists, offer an expert opinion on transthoracic echo findings and their management, develop a culture of learning within the echo team, improve pathways for those with suspected endocarditis and finally support the development of a local linked structural intervention service.
The appointed consultant would be expected to provide general cardiology outpatient clinic activity, take an equal share of the inpatient workload by participation in the Cardiologist of the Week in hours rota, contribute to the cover for out of hours cardiology care including weekend ward rounds and engage with learning and clinical governance within the cardiology department

9. Full GMC registration
10. GMC specialist registrar for cardiology or within 6 months of CCT/CESR at time of interview
11. BSE accreditation or equivalent

12. Higher research MD/PhD Masters
Clinical Experience

13. Trained to consultant level in the performance of all aspects of complex echocardiography including stress and transoesophageal echo
14. Competent in the management of cardiovascular disease at consultant level
15. Ability to manage complex cardiac pathology independently.
