The Asset Lead – Linear sits within the Asset Investment Team reporting to the Asset Investment Manager. This role will work closely with the Connect Plus Team, Connect Plus Services (the O&M Company) and other key project stakeholders to oversee all asset management activities for highways linear assets (i.e. pavement, geotechnical, drainage, road restraint systems). From a client-side perspective, this role will own asset management strategies for linear assets aligned with DBFO handback and performance requirements, provide strategic guidance to enable consistent roll out and execution of asset management strategies, and continuously drive asset management excellence to mature the approach.

The role is a unique opportunity to work within the Project Company (SPV) of a major infrastructure project and directly interface with senior stakeholders, the parent company and a range of supply chain across the whole life cycle of highways linear assets.


Responsibilities

* The Asset Lead Linear sits within the Asset Investment Team reporting to the Asset Investment Manager. This role will work closely with the Connect Plus Team, Connect Plus Services (the O&M Company) and other key project stakeholders to oversee all asset management activities for highways linear assets (pavement, geotechnical, drainage, road restraint systems).
* Ownership of Asset Management Strategies for highways linear assets covering the whole lifecycle (inspection, maintenance, and renewal).
* Act as a Connect Plus sponsor in gateway meetings for lifecycle renewal projects for highways linear assets to ensure projects deliver expected benefits within the budget.
* Work closely with the Engineering Manager and the Commercial & Asset Delivery team to optimise and sign off scope and delivery methodologies and unblock technical issues.
* Support the Engineering Manager with all technical approvals and alternative proposals (managing departures from standards).
* Drive innovation, efficiency and carbon reduction throughout the gateway process; communicate and share best practice in asset management.
* Develop Innovation business cases based on long-term asset risks and opportunities. Contribute with case studies for the Proactive Management Review.
* Support and influence the development of the Asset Management Forward Plan, ensuring proposed investment delivers benefits (risk mitigation, condition benefit, etc.) and meets strategic objectives and performance indicators.
* Support the development of the Annual Asset Management Report to capture benefits achieved, lessons learned and expenditure movement against the budget.
* Understand Asset Management IT systems, in particular Asset Investment Planning Toolkits; review and challenge input, configuration and modelling of Decision Support Tools.
* Support the annual review and update of key elements of the integrated asset management system, including processes, strategies, procedures, and key documents such as asset strategies, condition methodologies and ISO 55001 certification support.
* Collaborate with Connect Plus Services teams to understand impacts of strategic changes, changes in standards and third-party schemes on contract and asset performance.
* Understand and act as a source of knowledge for contractual and system requirements around asset management obligations.


Qualifications

* Chartered Engineer (ICE or equivalent) or relevant accreditation.
* Ability to set, challenge and refine Asset Management Strategies for highways linear assets in line with handback requirements.
* Ability to make decisions and move things forward balancing stakeholder requirements.
* Good communication and presentation skills.
* Proactivity and ability to operate autonomously in a senior team.
* Ability to multi-task and deliver multiple projects in parallel.
* IT literate; knowledge of Asset Management IT systems would be a plus.
