Hula is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Chef to oversee our kitchen. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a similar setting able to work under pressure and maintain a calm and organised kitchen and experience leading a small team. As Lead Chef, you will be responsible for managing kitchen staff, ensuring food safety standards are met, and maintaining high-quality food production. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic team in a fast-paced hospitality environment. You should be able to work alone and in a small team. You also need to understand staffing and KPIs or be willing to learn as we can provide training.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of a small the kitchen team, including other chefs
* Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality standards are maintained
* Manage food production processes, including menu planning and ingredient sourcing
* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
* Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service during serving hours
* Train and mentor junior staff to develop their skills and knowledge in culinary techniques and safety procedures
* Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock control efficiently
* Collaborate with management on menu development and special event planning
* Maintain a positive working environment that promotes teamwork and professional growth
Qualifications
* Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen or hospitality setting
* Extensive food production, preparation, and cooking experience
* Strong team management skills with the ability to motivate staff effectively
* In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
* Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is essential
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask under pressure
* Leadership qualities with a proactive approach to problem-solving
* Experience in culinary arts or hospitality training programmes is desirable
* A passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences and maintaining high standards of service
