Teaching Personnel are recruiting Unqualified Teaching Assistants to support Primary schools across Newport from September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience in education, whether you're a school leaver, graduate, parent returning to work, career changer, sports coach, youth worker, or simply someone who enjoys working with children.
No previous school experience is required.
About the Role
• Support pupils across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 • Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning tasks • Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups • Help create a positive and engaging learning environment • Support children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN/SEN) where required • Encourage positive behaviour and participation in lessons

• A positive "get up and go" attitude • Strong communication skills • Patience and empathy • Reliability and punctuality • Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff • A willingness to learn and take on feedback • Confidence working in a busy environment
Experience working with children is beneficial but can come from many backgrounds, including: • Childcare • Sports coaching • Care work • Youth work • Volunteering • Parenting
Training & Development
We provide comprehensive support to help you succeed, including: • Safeguarding Training • Team Teach Behaviour Management Training • Online CPD Courses • ALN/SEN Awareness Training • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant
Requirements
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) • EWC Registration (we can help you with this) • Two recent references
