Our client specialises in creating exciting, current, and engaging content—having partnered with major names in pop culture to create addicting and informative programmes. They’re rapidly growing and expanding their podcast slate, so you’d be joining the business at a key time in their development. The Role
Reporting to a talented and friendly Head of Finance, you’ll be tasked with supporting with the operational and day-to-day finance and accounting for the business. This includes leading the month-end close process, managing AP/AR, overseeing the general ledger, and working closely with the external accountants to ensure a smooth audit/tax process.
Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to support with the recruitment and training of a Finance Assistant to help grow the team—so a passion for mentorship is desired.
The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping and accounting skills, with a demonstrated history of contributing to operational finance for a business. Previous experience in SMEs/scale-ups or within media is favourable.
This role is suited to someone looking for flexibility when it comes to working time/hours, being a 3 day a week position that would be spread across limited hours throughout the week (although they can generally be flexible). Ideally, at least 1-2 days of the week would be spent in their offices, as they maintain a collaborative office culture and would love for you to be a part of it.
Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support
* Lead month-end close activities, reconciliations, and preparation of audit schedules
* Assist on audit preparation and delivery
* Own billing, invoicing, and revenue recognition processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
* Maintain and improve internal controls, finance processes, and compliance procedures
* Support budgeting and forecasting by collecting, preparing, and validating financial data
* Collaborate with external accountants, tax advisors, and other service providers
* Provide accurate and timely transactional finance data and reports to senior finance leadership
* Support other finance and operational projects as needed
* Recruit and mentor finance assistant
* Ad hoc tasks to support the Head of Finance and CEO
What We Need to See (Essential)
* Strong technical accounting and bookkeeping experience
* Eagerness to support the wider team
* Previous experience in SME’s
What We’d Like to See (Bonus)
* Previous experience in the media and entertainment space
Package:
Salary: £60,000-£65,000 FTE (£36,000-£39,000 pro-rata)
Location: Central London
Part-time: 3 days per week, ideally spread as reduced hours across 5 days
Working Pattern: At least one day per week in office, but more is preferable
Ideal Start: ASAP
