The Rail Planner is responsible for managing and coordinating all planning activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant railway operations. This role involves technical, commercial, and stakeholder engagement challenges across projects and business activities, supporting the delivery of high-quality rail infrastructure services.
Responsibilities
* Planning and Booking Possessions/Isolations – Schedule and manage track possessions and electrical isolations to minimize operational disruption and ensure compliance with safety standards.
* Attend Weekly RFLI Planning Meetings – Provide updates, collaborate on upcoming works, and represent planning interests.
* Client Relationship Management – Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with RFLI delivery managers to ensure alignment and smooth delivery.
* Project Leadership – Lead and deliver projects focused on railway planning, operational performance, and efficiency improvements.
* Quality Assurance – Review, check, and approve analysis and reports produced by the team to maintain high standards.
* Support to RFLI Manager – Assist with contractual obligations, reporting, and compliance activities.
Qualifications & Skills
* Planning and Organising – Ability to structure complex tasks, manage timelines, and prioritize effectively.
* Problem Solving – Identify issues, analyse root causes, and implement practical solutions.
* Communicating and Influencing – Strong interpersonal skills to convey information clearly.
* Rail Planning Experience – Proven experience in rail planning and possession management.
* Railway Operations Knowledge – Strong understanding of railway operations and safety standards.
* Stakeholder Management – Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Leadership under Pressure – Ability to lead projects and deliver results under pressure.
