We're on a journey to build a workforce reflective of our Borough.

We are committed to fostering diverse teams where everybody can bring their authentic selves to work and feel that they belong. If you want to work for a Council where everybody is encouraged to meet their full potential and make a difference in our neighbourhoods, we would love to hear from you!

Overview

Your role is within a creative and friendly Early Intervention team. You’ll have a busy yet fulfilling role assessing adults who are experiencing difficulty with their daily living tasks. You’ll look for ways to improve their independence, wellbeing and quality of life. Through your assessment you’ll recommend support from a range of solutions including a Reablement programme, suitable equipment, adaptations and assistive technology devices. You’ll help people focus on their existing skills, knowledge and experience to achieve positive outcomes. By offering the right initial support you’ll be an important link for the people you’re working with.

Responsibilities

• Assess adults experiencing difficulty with daily living tasks and identify opportunities to improve independence and wellbeing. • Recommend appropriate support options (Reablement programmes, equipment, adaptations, and assistive technology). • Support individuals to build on existing skills, knowledge and experience to achieve positive outcomes. • Act as an important link by delivering initial support and coordinating with other services as needed.

About you

You’re a people person who thrives on working with others and helping to make a difference to people’s lives. You may not have done this role before, yet you’ll have: kindness and compassion, passion and creativity, determination and a commitment to the team and the people you’re helping. You’ll be flexible with your time, able to multitask, and eager to learn. You will hold a current HCPC registration.

About us

Wigan Council has been voted ‘Overall Council of the Year’ at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Awards. We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or unbroken between the supporting organisations.

The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It recognises that together we can achieve more for our communities by delivering on our two place missions: create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them.

The team includes customer services advisors, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Primary Assessors, Reablement officers, Assistive technology, Sensory Rehab Officers and EI Coordinators, working in meaningful roles committed to helping the adults and children we work with. We’re a busy, lively team of ‘can-do’ people who value training, qualifications and career progression. No day is the same, and we’re resilient, supportive and welcoming.

We support flexible working patterns where the service can accommodate this and take a blended approach to where we work. This may include working from home, the office, or in the community. We offer a range of exclusive rewards and benefits; click here to find out more about working for #TeamWigan.
