Job Overview
We have an opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated Sonographers to join our vibrant, friendly and supportive team providing a wide range of ultrasound examinations. Candidates should have experience in obstetrics, gynaecology, general and MSK ultrasound.
We offer a structured induction programme, core skills consolidation under mentor guidance, familiarity with our protocols and visits to our different sites including Wexham, Heatherwood, St Mark’s, King Edward VII Hospitals and the Community Diagnostics Centre in Slough.
Main Duties
Deliver a high‑quality ultrasound service within a 7‑day working pattern. Act as an effective member of the Department of Radiology, maintaining high standards of imaging and patient care. Manage own lists, perform and report a range of examinations, participate in audit and support trainee sonographers.
Responsibilities
 * Perform a range of obstetric and non‑obstetric ultrasound examinations.
 * Produce high‑quality ultrasound reports under the delegation of the Lead Radiologist and in accordance with accepted practice and protocols.
 * Contribute to a high‑quality and efficient ultrasound service.
 * Maintain departmental standards and support team objectives.
 * Supervise students and trainee sonographers where required.
 * Communicate results and findings clearly to patients and relatives.
 * Obtain verbal consent before procedures and ensure audit of all aspects of the service.
 * Maintain CPD and competence, support induction of new staff, and provide training to students.
 * Brief staff about Trust objectives, plans and business developments.
 * Set objectives, identify training needs and appraise staff annually.
 * Ensure compliance with Equality and Diversity policy and annual equality updates.
 * Adhere to Health and Safety and infection control policies and attend mandatory training.
 * Safeguard vulnerable groups when in contact with them.
 * Comply with Data Protection Act and confidentiality policies.
Qualifications
 * Essential: PgC Medical Ultrasound CASE accredited or non‑CASE accredited Ultrasound qualification.
 * Desirable: MSc Ultrasound, PgD Medical Ultrasound CASE accredited.
Competencies
 * Plan and organise within multidisciplinary teams.

 * Share complex information sensitively with staff and patients.
 * Be a Team Player and understand team dynamics.
Experience
 * Essential: Experienced sonographer, practical ultrasound training, audit experience, NHS experience in ultrasound.
 * Desirable: Experience training other clinical users, equipment selection and evaluation, change‑management benefits in ultrasound.
