Location: Stevenage, SG1 Salary: £27,300 Working Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday – Friday) 9am-4.30pm / 8:30am-4pm Job Code: MJ2073 Finance Assistant Do you have a keen eye for detail and enjoy working with numbers? Are you organised and efficient? If so, we'd love to hear from you! My client, based in Stevenage, is looking for an experienced finance assistant to join their growing team. This role would be perfect for someone who has experience in a similar role who has good knowledge of Sage Line 50. Ideally you will be detail-oriented individual with strong organisational skills and a knack for numbers. Key Responsibilities: * Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and ensure precise financial record-keeping. * Process and allocate daily bank payments and receipts. * Oversee the sales ledger, focusing on the timely collection of outstanding debts. * Communicate with customers by phone and email to resolve payment issues. * Monitor and action overdue accounts, including issuing reminders, negotiating terms, and escalating as needed. * Cultivate strong client relationships to facilitate efficient debt collection. * Obtain and apply purchase orders (POs) to invoices, submitting them via relevant portals. * Manage the purchase ledger, encompassing supplier invoice processing and monthly payment runs. * Perform reconciliations for supplier, customer, and credit card accounts. * Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements. * Review and correct anomalies in meter movements within the VMGR system. The successful candidate will have: * At least 5 years’ experience using Sage Line 50 * Strong Excel skills including Excel Pivot tables, V look ups and analysis. * Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, etc.) * Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills * Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks * Prior experience in a finance assistant or similar role.
