The British flower market is worth £1.2bn, and MM Flowers grows and sources high quality blooms worldwide, delivering colour, passion and inspiration through breath-taking blooms. Established in 2007, MM Flowers operates from a purpose-built facility in Alconbury, Huntingdon and employs over 900 people who are dedicated to delivering exceptional quality and service to our customers.
To support our growth, we are looking for a talented Technologist to join the team. You will work across customer management, product management and functional management to ensure technical excellence across the supply chain from sourcing to packaging and governance. Responsibilities
* Customer Management: Develop good working relationships with the customer technologists; assist with key technical and development matters internally and externally; ensure seamless collaboration with the MM Flowers account team with alignment to commercial and NPD goals; prepare accurate and timely reports and assist with data and insights for MM Flowers and 3rd party customers.
* Product Management: Support commercial proposals with technical input; work with Commercial teams to understand market requirements and performance, and to research and develop new varieties and packaging formats; benchmark raw materials and finished goods; contribute to sourcing decisions to ensure consistent product quality and compliance.
* Functional Management: Collaborate with Commercial, Buying, NPD and ESG teams to build partnerships and create new ones; advise on the correct quality systems and principles to set leading customer and industry standards; maintain databases with accurate data entry.
Skillset and Experience
* Experience of the horticultural/retail industry beneficial
* Understanding of breeding, growing and post-harvest of fresh produce
* Basic knowledge of plant biological and physiological processes
* Good organisational, problem solving and analytical skills
* Confident communication of key findings and opportunities to a diverse audience
