We are seeking a passionate HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist who has or is in the process of completing their specialist portfolio to join our small, busy, friendly team. You will help maintain and develop the excellent work of the Histopathology department, delivering a high-quality, efficient service.
The Rotherham Histology department handles approximately 30,000 histology samples, 1,000 non-gynae cytology samples, and 600 andrology samples annually. We undertake routine histological processes including BMS specimen dissection, microtomy, special stains, immunohistochemistry, molecular diagnostics, and andrology. The successful candidate will rotate across all laboratory areas and support quality monitoring, staff supervision and training, and quality management duties such as audits and documentation review.
As a Biomedical Scientist, the post holder will work within the professional standards expected of HCPC registrants and maintain a portfolio supporting Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
The post holder will be responsible for scientific and technical service delivery within the Histopathology services section of the laboratory.
Duties include performing a range of scientific procedures involving biomedical specimen processing to aid diagnosis, treatment, and disease monitoring. This involves undertaking complex diagnostic tests and interpreting results to produce diagnostic reports.
The post holder must conform to standard operational procedures, health and safety policies, departmental and organizational policies, and good laboratory practice, complying with UKAS standards and other relevant professional and regulatory bodies such as H.T.A.
